Understanding gold-backed digital currency
How the backing works, how redemption works, and answers to the questions we hear most.
What is gold-backed digital currency?
Gold-backed digital currency represents a fixed weight of physical gold — for example, one unit might equal one gram of 99.9% pure gold. Instead of trading a promise or a derivative, you hold a digital claim on gold that is actually stored in a vault, in your name.
This differs from cryptocurrencies whose value floats freely, and from paper "gold funds" that can be leveraged or re-hypothecated. The value of your balance moves with the live gold price, and — because it's tied 1:1 to physical metal — it can always be redeemed for real bars, not just cash.
How redemption works
Request
Choose the amount of your balance you'd like as physical gold and submit a redemption request from your dashboard.
Verify
We confirm your identity and the request, and prepare certified bars matching your balance.
Deliver or pick up
Choose secure, trackable delivery to your address, or pick up in person where available.
